Spaces and Nostalgia: two albums that speak to me every time

There are plenty of songs and artists I love, which does not mean I always enjoy listening to them. As time goes by, my connection to my music keeps changing —sometimes, an album I use to sing or dance along in a loop can feel off. Yet, months or years apart, it can get even closer than our first time together. But Billy Joel explained it best:

And so it goes, and so it goes
And you’re the only one who knows.

Moving on. Yes, every time I like a song very much, I go and listen to its album in full. It never disappoints because you always get more context of the musical forest surrounding you —as new pathways broaden.

Today, I want to share two albums that seem timeless for me. Each and every time I listen to them, they speak to me:

Listen to Spaces (2013) by Nils Frahm on Bandcamp, Spotify, YouTube.

Listen to Nostalgia (Live) (2024) by Hania Rani on Bandcamp, Spotify, YouTube.

Curious fact I didn’t know until blogging about this: Nostalgia was recorded live on my birthday: October, 6, 2023 —as stated on the cover.

It’s funny how writing about the things you enjoy —and think already know in full, gets more nuanced and intimate when you talk/write about them to share it online with strangers.

P.S. I wasn’t even considering it when I first started writing this but I ended up joining Bandcamp for Fans. Although I mostly listen to music on Spotify, this is a step towards a more conscious way of engaging with the music I enjoy.
